Excellent returns on almonds

Trials in California show excellent yield increases above the control

With almonds being a significant contributor to California’s agriculture, we focus on how to get the most out of this year’s crop.

Alongside standard crop management practices, a good quality seaweed product will go a long way to maintaining tree and soil health, increased nut yields and ultimately improving the growers bottom line.

Ecklonia maxima, or giant brown seaweed, found only off the coast of Southern Africa, contains natural active substances that enhance plant development and growth. These delicate ingredients can only be preserved through a careful extraction process like the Cellburst® method used in the manufacturing of Kelpak® Liquid Seaweed Concentrate.

The benefits of Kelpak® on almonds include increased tolerance to abiotic stresses and measurable improvements in nutrient uptake, early nut development, nut quality and marketable yields.

Trials were conducted with applications at Pink Bud, Full Bloom and Sepal fall.
Three foliar applications of Kelpak® at a rate of 3pts/100gal/Acre, resulted in a yield increase of +11% above control on Independence almonds. On Nonpareil almonds a +19% increase was gained, illustrating once again that Kelpak® is an effective tool for any almond grower.
